Selecting Aviation Art Lithographs For Collectors

January 7th, 2010 Jacob Biggs No comments

Lithographic prints are reproductions of original works of art. The use of lithographs provides an opportunity for many people to enjoy the beauty of an art piece in the convenience of their home at an affordable price. The use of lithographs are extremely popular for aviation art by collectors.

The making of a lithographic print is complex and detailed. A print is made using separate passes on a lithographer’s press which puts a layer of color on the print. A minimum of four colors are required to obtain a full color spectrum. And, when completed the lithograph is an exact replica of the original work of art.

Selecting the lithograph that will become most valuable from a collector’s standpoint will depend on the category of print you select. An individual who is collecting a specific series of aviation art may find that the pieces in one category provide more options and potential added value than another category.

Lithographs that are collected are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that is signed by the artist in a graphite pencil. The use of the pencil in signing protects the certificate from any possibilities of forgery. The print may be numbered and if so, selected a number from one to fifty increases the value of the print from the time you select it.

A popular lithograph that is extremely affordable is the Open Edition lithograph. This print does not have any limitation on the number of prints made, nor is it numbered. One way that this print will increase dramatically in value is when the artist has added a Remarque to the print. This is a small object or doodle that is related to the lithograph in the margin of the print. The Remarque makes the piece a unique print that cannot be duplicated and thus becomes one of a kind.

A Limited Edition is one of the more common types of lithographs sold. These pieces are numbered, signed by the artist, and have a limited number of printings. They are not reprinted once the series has been completed and the original printing plates are destroyed after the last print has been made. This insures that the value of the print will increase with time.

A Master Edition lithograph is signs, numbered, and printed like the Limited Edition but the details on the lithograph are enhanced by the artist. The artist may add a unique feature to the lithograph and create an original piece on the lithograph that a collector has received.

When a special lithograph is made for a group of veterans they are categorized in the Veteran Edition lithographs. The prints are restricted to the specific group for which they are made, are numbered and signed by the artist. The plates are destroyed and there are no further printing done of the lithograph after they have been distributed to the veteran group.

Museums and diplomats often receive a Presidential Proof from an artist or group. These lithographs are printed on canvas and have intricate detailing by the artist. In many cases an observer cannot tell that the print is not the original piece. The prints are not sold and are numbered and maintained in large centers or galleries.

December 30th, 2009 Kelly Blomquist No comments

There are millions of artists in the world today, but only a small handful truly stands out for excellence and beauty. Zinour is a Canadian fine artist who does just that. Zinour was named one of Canada’s best fine artists at the Kingston Prize competition recently. This Calgary fine artist competition was held this year and was a highly competitive competition.

Zinour was one of the top 30 artists that were chosen and was up against tough competition in the portrait category. Canada has an amazingly large number of gifted painters and portrait artists. The strikingly real appearance of these paintings is only second to the artistic design that makes these portraits truly stunning.

One of the most fascinating things about Zinour’s work is that he working in a variety of mediums from pastels to wood-carvings. This variety is rarely seen with regard to a single artist. Zinour is as good a sculptor as he is a portrait artist. Zinour has featured animals in many of his pieces and there is often a historic feel to his work - as though some important part of history has just been documented.

It is good to see an artist give praise to another artist in his work. For example, the painting, Christos Hatzis: Juno award-winning, Canadian composer; professor of composition at the University of Toronto is an amazing example of this. Hatiz is portray simply sitting on a park bench in stunning accuracy, but his passion is shown in the composition book sitting on his lap. Such a small detail and it is that small detail that truly makes the portrait amazing.

Sadly, not many people around the world know about the artistic contributions being made by Canadian artists today. The most amazingly beautiful portraits I have seen in my life were created by Canadian artists. I will never forget these awe inspiring works of art.

Zinour is a Calgary fine artist who carries on the tradition of excellence well. If you have an interest in art you may want to look into Canadian artists because there is a myriad of amazing artwork being created by Canadian artists today.

The Calgary fine artist competition considers the work of only 30 finalists and is highly competitive. More info on http://www.legacyartworkbyzinour.com

What Do You Consider Art?

December 19th, 2009 Jaclyn Hawtin No comments

Art or the phrase abstract art painting as defined by the dictionary is more of a form or an act of sorts. It is also defined as “a conscious esthetically meaningful arrangement of elements.” This definition is very confusing and really does not say much if you think about it. If you analyze the definitions and keywords you will be able to better interpret what art really means.

Conscious the first word to be examined literally means intentional. The word esthetically which comes second relates to something beautiful. The word entity can be looked at as an entity of sorts. After taking all three of these words into consideration we can now translate the definition a bit further in saying that art is executed deliberately, that art can be organized in a particular manner, and that there has to be some sense of beauty to it. Beauty is another word that can be interpreted in many different ways because it can be used to define anything, an act, a noun, or even a time period. Here we recognize a conscious effort to unveil the beauty in something.

There are many art authors who similarly recognize three major characteristics in works of art. Some of these authors list more than this, but we will cover four of them now.

The first and most obvious characteristic of art is that it is manmade and also that it is intentional. Whatever the medium be it painting, sculpture, film, dance, or theatre it was created for the purpose of being a work of art. Art is made out of something (elements) be it paint, words, waves of sound which are all formed through a type of expression

We also see that another characteristic of art is that these works of art always exhibit the artists feelings, thoughts, and attitudes. Through their art these expressions are then able to be communicated and instilled into the population.

The most exciting part of art to me is that it is original. The most obvious characteristic of art is its originality. Every song, or piece, or painting that has ever been created is done from scratch, it is a product of that artists mind. The artist has taken different things and put them together to make something new.

In order for something to be considered an artwork means that the general public has to accept that it is art in the first place. In other words, people have to believe art is art to make it art. Art does not require that it be appreciated, it can even be considered disgraceful as long as society recognizes it as art.

Draw a Cartoon Me Face Avatar

December 19th, 2009 Carmeline Calvistacro No comments

Some people can take a photograph and draw a cartoon me face. However, drawing a cartoon me avatar is not easy because you have to practice for several months. Some artists will just trace their cartoons or not make them very detailed because drawing a cartoon from just looking at a photo requires a lot of skill.

It requires a lot of patience and ability to make the cartoon look like the person’s photograph, without making the caricature look too childish. At the time I wasn’t attempting to draw cartoon me face, it just turned out that my drawings looked that way.

To draw a cartoon use crayons and markers and just start brainstorming. Sometimes I will just blend and mix colors regardless of the pattern. I have drawn a cartoon me face of my brother and parents and they both thought it was funny.

My drawings have become more detailed as I grew up, but it is still very difficult for me to draw a cartoon me face avatar of someone in a short period of time. Sometimes I will spend hours drawing someone’s ears and mouth and if I can’t complete it I just leave it unfinished.

You can add lots of colors to your drawings to make them come alive. Drawing women and their eyes is much more difficult than drawing men. I like to draw a cartoon me face of men and then add a beard and mustache. They are easy to draw and really improve the definition of the cartoons features.

Some people take art classes to improve their drawing skills so they can quickly and easily create a cartoon me face. Art classes actually walk you through the drawing process by using simple steps.

Taking an art class is not expensive if you go to a community college rather than an art institute. Nowadays you can create a cartoon me face quickly by using drawing computer programs that you can download for free off the internet. It is easy to find all sorts of these programs online and they are free for the most part.

Drawing cartoons takes a lot of time and patience although it is still very entertaining. One of the most challenging things will always be to draw a cartoon me face by just looking at a photo.

A great gift for the holidays or someones birthday is to take a photo of them and draw a cartoon me face of that person to get some laughs. Several hours of practice is generally all it takes and you will be able to draw a cartoon me avatar of all of your loved ones.

Carmeline has written another very practical article that you can read before you download anything from the internet, so make sure you check Carmeline Calvistacros blog on creating a cartoon me face for the rest of this article. For a very short time you can get a free download. Visit us to get your free create a cartoon me avatar face software.
