Where You Can Find Molds For Candle Making, The Are Lots Of Possibilities For You To Use

November 26th, 2009 Marcia Francous No comments

If you want to make candles, you will need molds. Finding molds for candle making is not difficult but it can take a little thought and planning. You need to think what kind of mold you want and what shape of candles you want to make.

First, here is a bit of basic information about candle making. In order to create candles, you need to melt wax and allow it to form around a wick. The wick is a string or bundle of fibres that runs down the center of the candle. It is lit and as the wick burns, the heat melts the wax. It is drawn up the wick and provides fuel for the flame while keeping the wick from burning too quickly.

If you are using any container, the main thing is to make sure it will not leak. You want to make sure that the wax will not ooze out around the bottom or side of the mold as the wax cools. You also need to make sure that when the candle is completely cooled, you are able to free it from the mold easily and in a way that does not scratch or mar the outside.

Did you know that it is simple to use household items to make candle molds? There are a large number of items that you can use just lying around the house. If you want a pillar candle, think frozen juice cans or biscuit dough tubes. These are stiff but are made of cardboard so that they can simply be peeled off of the cooled candle. A square candle will work when made out of a juice container. You can also use paper towel tubing or toilet paper rolls, but you need to make sure that the wax will not drip out.

If you like the idea and look of jar candles, consider using canning jars or other glass jars to make candles. You will want to make sure that the glass container you use will withstand the heat of melted wax. Mason jars, which are designed to hold hot jams and jellies are a good choice and make a lovely large candle you can give as a gift.

Candle making can be a wonderful craft that makes lovely items for your home and gifts for others. Learning the proper way to make a candle mold is the key to producing beautiful pieces your friends and family will love.

While working on a face painting idea you should also practice how to apply the paint properly. Try to apply thin coats of the paint first because If you apply thick coats it may develop cracks and you will have to redo it.

Be careful when choosing what face paint to use on your customers, I always get a branded face paint (and if the design also needs glitter) that is approved by the FDA.

What Options Do You Have If Handling Candle Making Jars?

November 12th, 2009 Paula Minnows No comments

You can easily make your own candles from home. In order to get candles to be made properly you will need the right candle making jars. There are many important things to work on when getting a jar ready.

First you should work with using glass. Durable glass can work to handle flames that come from candles. This is important because many plastics will melt when used to hold candles.

A good thing of note is that all sorts of glass containers can be used. Glasses for drinking and glass pots can be used. Smaller materials for holding desserts can even be used as well. It will help to be sure that the glass that is used is not chipped or fragile. Materials that are not durable and are at risk of breaking should be avoided.

Cleaning the jar is something that you should do. When the jar is cleaned out many materials and other things can be cleared out. As a result it will be easier to get more wax into the container. The wick can also get into the candle with greater ease.

When you are working on the wick you should watch for how it is placed. The wick base should be on a flat surface in your jar. The entire wick itself should also be straight. This is so the wick will not damage the surface of the jar. By using these factors the wick will not fall over.

You will need to use these tips when getting a good candle making jar ready. The jar should be one that is clean to use. It can also work with a good wick that is place in a good spot.
