Port de la Savina takes its name from the fact that this natural harbor used to be a busy port that exported sabina pine. It was also used to export salt. These days the port is pretty much dedicated to shipping tourists in and out, but it’s name recalls its heritage.

The ferries that call at La Savina are from mainland Spain and other Balearic islands. Ferries come many ports, including: Altea, Alicante, Denia, Sant Antoni, Santa Eularia, Palma, and Barcelona. There are also boats that go from La Savina to the neighboring island of Espalmador.

Exploring the restaurants and tapas bars of La Savina can be a most enjoyable pleasure, and it is a great way to spend your time. In between the Spanish sausages and paella you can also visit the many rental stores to get a bike or car, ready to explore the rest of the island. There is a tourist information office on the marina, so you should definitely pop in there too. The staff are very friendly.

After a while in Port de la Savina you can go on to explore the lagoon of Estany des Peix. It is connected to the sea via a very narrow mouth so only the smallest boats anchor here. Just across from Estany des Peix is the other saltwater lagoon of Estany Pudent, and beyond that are the salt pans. Sometimes the lagoons can get a bit smelly in which case the beaches of Es Trucadors offer an alternative.

The first destination for many people who arrive at La Savina is Es Pujols. This resort village has a great beach and warm shallow waters which are ideal for water sports. There is disabled access to the ocean and it is a very family friendly area. Whilst there are a lot of you tourists here it is not like the wild party atmosphere that you get in Ibiza.

In the evenings Es Pujols turns into a lively network of market stalls along the promenade of Avenida Miramar and into the high street of Passeig des Plameres. The locals, some of whom are aging hippies, sell a lot of hand made goods.

Boys and girls of all ages like trains and train sets. They have played a very important role in the history of this country and Seattle, Washington and the Northwest in specific. In fact, the roles of trains in this part of the country have in the past been so vital that there are a few museums dedicated to them. Trains were essential lifelines for the people here for many years. While their importance seems to be dwindling in today’s society, their significance throughout the history of our country remains.

After you’ve whetted your enthusiasm for trains and gotten your child all excited about them, it is time to take a walk back in time to the Northwest Railway Museum. There you can learn about railway history or even choose to take a ride on one of the trains that departs on several tours throughout the day. Most of the excursions are 65-75 minutes long and are a great extravagance for young and old alike. Perhaps the best thing about this museum is that its main objective is to educate the public about the important role that railroads had in the growth of this part of the country.

If you’re really interested in sharing your love for trains with the ones you love, you may consider taking a spin on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train. This is a great way to not only get the experience of riding the rails but to take in some of the beautiful Washington scenery and have a gourmet meal in the process. During the months of November through to April up to two children may ride free with a paying adult.

There are certain limitations on the category of seating, but it is a splendid way to get the experience at a greatly reduced price. There are also special events such as Murder Mystery Trains and Magic and Illusion shows in addition to several holiday events as well. Be sure to check out what is going on while you are visiting Seattle and see if this is something that might interest you and your family.

If you are up for a not so short drive to Pasco (about three and a half hours from Seattle), you might find the Washington State Railroads Historical Society Museum well worth the trip. Be sure to remember that the museum is only open on Saturday and that the hours are limited so this is a journey you have to plan in advance. The best thing about this museum to me is the fact that there are lovely little stories, like the blackboard that recorded the first snowfall at the depot each year and others such as this.

It is the little stories that do not necessarily make history that do make long-lasting impressions and I am glad to see this particular story is being shared. Just bear in mind, when visiting any of these depots, museums, and train excursions that you definitely must bring your inner child with you in order to enjoy them as you should.

You been there before. You go on holidays and take lots of photos of all those stunning sights and the wonderful places you went to. But you get home, you look at your photos and you’re always disappointed. They look lifeless and dull and ordinary.

It’s often a simple step to go from taking ordinary photos to taking good photos you can be proud of. You don’t need to go to College for years, you just need to learn some simple basic processes that every photography professional knows.

Some simple stuff like how to compose a good photograph. How to make best use of light. How to take good photos of people, pets and the outdoors. How to use a tripod properly. How to make best use of your flash.

There’s no doubt that modern cameras are very good. They take good photos if you know how, but don’t expect to just point and shoot and get a great result. It’s still necessary to know how to drive one of those modern cameras to make best use of them. You need to know some photography basics. No camera will take great photos if you just point and shoot.

They would build the perfect point and shoot camera if they could, but to date you can’t buy one. There’s no way to take great photos without spending some time learning the basics of good photography.

It’s not that hard to learn, it takes a little practice, but if you enjoy your photography you’ll love practicing. It’s just a matter of learning some of the secrets of the pros, practicing them and applying them.

Then when you go on holidays next time you won’t need to feel embarrassed about your average boring photos. You’ll love showing them to your friends, they’ll probably be asking you for tips on how to take good photos themselves.

And you might even look at your holiday photos and find your girlfriend smiling.
