From La Savina to Es Pujols

January 15th, 2010 Alameda Abadilla No comments

Port de la Savina takes its name from the fact that this natural harbor used to be a busy port that exported sabina pine. It was also used to export salt. These days the port is pretty much dedicated to shipping tourists in and out, but it’s name recalls its heritage.

The ferries that call at La Savina are from mainland Spain and other Balearic islands. Ferries come many ports, including: Altea, Alicante, Denia, Sant Antoni, Santa Eularia, Palma, and Barcelona. There are also boats that go from La Savina to the neighboring island of Espalmador.

Exploring the restaurants and tapas bars of La Savina can be a most enjoyable pleasure, and it is a great way to spend your time. In between the Spanish sausages and paella you can also visit the many rental stores to get a bike or car, ready to explore the rest of the island. There is a tourist information office on the marina, so you should definitely pop in there too. The staff are very friendly.

After a while in Port de la Savina you can go on to explore the lagoon of Estany des Peix. It is connected to the sea via a very narrow mouth so only the smallest boats anchor here. Just across from Estany des Peix is the other saltwater lagoon of Estany Pudent, and beyond that are the salt pans. Sometimes the lagoons can get a bit smelly in which case the beaches of Es Trucadors offer an alternative.

The first destination for many people who arrive at La Savina is Es Pujols. This resort village has a great beach and warm shallow waters which are ideal for water sports. There is disabled access to the ocean and it is a very family friendly area. Whilst there are a lot of you tourists here it is not like the wild party atmosphere that you get in Ibiza.

In the evenings Es Pujols turns into a lively network of market stalls along the promenade of Avenida Miramar and into the high street of Passeig des Plameres. The locals, some of whom are aging hippies, sell a lot of hand made goods.

Meanings of Chinese Symbols

December 18th, 2009 James Chung No comments

The Chinese symbols had incorporated all the characters, signs and alphabets which were used in China for thousands of years and reached a staggering number of eighty thousand approximately. Now of course the use of Chinese symbols has been greatly curtailed.

The utilization of the symbols in the Chinese language is becoming less and less as the language has evolved over the years. But in the art form these symbols have immense value. They are very appealing to the eye and the whole world recognizes the beauty of these symbols.

The use of the Chinese symbols in China is as popular as ever. You can notice them in many places especially in expressions of art and architecture. The Chinese people are using these symbols to mark their products like kitchenware etc. There is another purpose to these symbols which are related to superstition which is still followed in Chinese culture.

Whatever may be the meaning the physical structure of the traditional symbols from China has special artistic appeal. But when you go to the depth of these symbols you will find that they represent great philosophies which go back in time and are still in use.

Once you start know the Chinese symbols you will find that they cover a large area ranging from very positive to highly negative. The Chinese people believe that by using the positive symbols they can attract good things to happen to them. They are absolutely certain that the positive symbols can attract good fortune.

This principle may hold true or not is subject to personal faith. As far as Chinese people are concerned the symbols are extremely significant in their life in terms of their beauty as well as their consequences on their life by including them.

To give an example you may find five bats grouped together which is extremely popular in China for good luck. These bats represent five good things in life like wealth, health, love, longevity and virtue. If they are represented in red color they become even more powerful charm.

Another popular symbol is the sunset symbol which exists in many places in contemporary Chinese society. For the Chinese the sun is the most portent symbol and is also taken as the source of Yang energy.

There are number of ancient legends about the sun which leads the Chinese people to believe in its positive powers. For one it is the basis of all energy and purification. Secondly it produces balance. Because of these deep philosophical aspects sun is given great respect in China.

A Sophisticated Affair

December 15th, 2009 David Artstone No comments

Slate and Artstone - I met this one at an elegant and formal party. I had slipped into silk, he was dressed in something more complex.

I long ago lost the need to feed, so now I feed my faded lust. He was pretty, and haughty, just the way I like them.

It did not take long to make her leave his side. One thing leads to another, which leads to another which causes this one to fall, which makes that one back up, which cases the table to shake, the cup to spill, the dress to stain.

And she’s off in a huff, not a terribly attractive way to make an exit. Plenty of room for me to slide in

Men believe anything when their hard. The first part was easy, the second was easier. Before he knew it we were walking out back, innocent enough.

I never make the first move. I don’t have to. All I have to do is wiggle the worm, present it out there, ripe and juicy.

He was a good roll, not that I feel it anymore. At least in that lust I got to take a sip of his soul, that is always sweet ecstasy. Of course that’s not why I do it.

The look on her face was even better. Everyone had seen us wander out back. I know how to be conspicuous when I want to be, and every man and woman’s eyes were on me, even as were his own, glued, locked onto me. It was a simple thing for her to ask around

and to be answered

out back…

with some woman…

But she was only gone a minute!

And then, stained, soiled, and sundered, humiliation and rage, pain, sorrow, loss, the air rushes from her lungs, the blood from her heart.

I nudge him, even as I rise, magnificent in my naked splendor. I want her to see me, to see not only what has been taken, but also that which took it, to know that I am better

Then I take my leave, and even as I go, I can feel the glow rising from them. A real, true moment, an instant of perfection, locked forever in time, crafted by my design

A Great Imagination Is What Makes Great Suspense Fiction Books

December 10th, 2009 Jack Hanley No comments

Reading is relaxing and opens our minds to imagination. Settling in with one of the newest suspense fiction books will keep you on your toes till the very end. There is nothing better than finding a book that keeps you wondering all the way to the end, who really done it.

There is nothing like a book filled with suspense and wonder unlike a non- fiction the characters in fiction are made up so they could be anyone the author intends. They can be a vicious and cruel as the imagination of the writer. If you think you have what it takes to write a good page turner why not start one. All it would take is a great imagination and some thought as to how the character should become as real to the reader as to you the writer.

If you are just considering writing as a hobby, you can take your time. Start off slow and let it happen as it does. You do not have to rush out and write the best seller in a day. Read the following pointers and let your imagination do the rest.

The first part should be to think of where you would want your story to be. The place should be one that you can associate with. When you were a child was there a specific place that terrified you. It could be your childhood home, town, a hospital, any place that could provoke fear.

The character is the next step. It is best to have a few main characters that interact through out the story. Remember there are also a good guy and a bad guy and many others in between. Make your characters come to life by describing them in full detail. Include their hair color, eye color and even what they are wearing if necessary. They point is to make them appear real. If the reader can picture the way they look they will come to life.

Make your scenes come alive. The more suspense you add and the more realistic you make them appear the more suspense the reader will feel. A great suspense is when you think you know who did it and why only to get to the next chapter and find out you were totally wrong.

The ending should be an “oh my” ending. One that will make the reader afraid to sleep with the lights out. The best inspiration can be found in other books. Do not by any means copy someone else works, but if you are stumped on ideas for places for example, read some great works and see how the author brings their town or destination to life. Get a feel for how the characters come to life and develop your own ideas in your imagination.

Sometimes sitting without thinking is the best way to begin. In other words, it is good to have a general idea of what you intend to develop, but sometimes we just begin best without over thinking. The characters will come to life in your imagination; you simply have to apply it to the paper. Remember things that make you think and wonder how that could happen. Writing suspense fiction books is just that it is fiction; you could make your characters anyone you want them to be and do anything you want them to do.
